A moulding at the bottom of the Virgin’s throne includes fragments of a signature: (J)ENNIN … GOS(SART) Above the recorder player a boy offers a flower to the Child. There is a single turned bead on the foot-piece. In the foreground, three putti sing and others play lute and a cylindrical duct flute (flageolet or recorder), probably a recorder since all fingers of the player’s lowermost (left) hand seem to be covering their holes.
